A huge thank-you goes to members of **Mike Moxey’s maintenance crew—Kenny, Dylan, and Jared**. They spent the entire week painting, mowing, and trimming in extreme temperatures to prepare the field for Friday night.
We also want to recognize **Virgil and Curtis**, who also worked hard addressing the cooling and maintenance issues throughout our campus. this week. Their work may not always be as visible as the field, but it is just as important to keeping our schools running.
We are fortunate to have employees who take tremendous pride in our facilities and work hard every day for our students, staff, and community.

**There will be a tailgate with pizza, chips, soda/water from 6:45-7:10pm in the area by the tennis courts (please note the game doesn't start until 7:30 due to heat) before the home varsity football game. All students and staff are invited to attend. The theme for the football game this Friday is Neon and there will be giveaways at the tailgate. All students are invited to be on the field during pre-game and sit in the student section.

The heat wave continues to have an impact on athletic events. Today, all outdoor practices must take place at 7 pm.
Boys Soccer will now host Lebanon at 7 pm at Wood River Soccer & Skate Park. This was originally an away game but we moved it so we can get it in under the lights and cooler temperatures.

**There will be a meeting for girls soccer today during academic lab in the CCC. Students who want to attend must get a pass from the Attendance Center.
**Students can purchase a fall athletic pass from the Attendance Center for $5. This pass will allow an EAWR student into all fall home games for $5 (football/volleyball) except for IHSA contests. All fall athletes and band members get into fall events for free.
**Interested in playing Dungeons and Dragons! Come check out the EAWR D&D Club! The first meeting is today during academic lab in the CCC! If you have any questions see Mr. Verdun in the CCC. Let's roll some dice!
**Senior mentors will meet today in E121 during academic lab to discuss how the first meeting went, develop the freshman survey, and start to plan our next meeting.
**This week starts the regular 2:30 pm dismissal for students. The schedule will include academic lab and the 2:30 dismissal schedule can be found in your Google Schedules Folder. Also starting this week the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month will be a 2 pm dismissal for students while faculty members attend professional development meetings. So for this week dismissal will be at 2:30 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday and on Wednesday dismissal will be at 2 pm.
**The sophomore class ring assembly is tomorrow, Tuesday, September 1st during academic lab in the cafeteria. All sophomores will receive a class ring packet at the assembly. If a sophomore can't attend please see Mrs. Dixon from the guidance office following the assembly for an order packet.
**The first Drama Club informational meeting will be this Thursday, Sept. 3rd, at 4:30 in the CCC. This meeting is for all members and anyone wanting to participate in Drama Club this year.
**There will be a wrestling meeting in the CCC for anyone interested in wrestling this school year. This meeting will be on Fri, Sep. 4
**Junior and Senior Girls- Big Sisters is a community service organization at the high school. You must have at least a 2.25 GPA to apply. Applications are available beginning today in Mrs. Catlin’s classroom, Mrs. Venvertloh’s office or the attendance center. They are due by Wednesday, September 9th. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Catlin.
**The East Alton Soapbox Derby is Saturday, September 12th. If you would like to volunteer please sign up in the Attendance Center. Volunteers need to arrive at 9:00 am and the event will be over around 2 pm. All volunteers need to meet at the check station by Tropical Sno in East Alton (by the old EA Shop n Save). If you volunteer, please wear an Oiler shirt or another appropriate t-shirt and be sure to sign in and sign out. Again the sign up is in the Attendance Center.

The weekly bulletin is attached for printing. We have a heat wave to deal with this week meaning the majority of our games will be rescheduled, postponed to later in the evenings, or cancelled. The bulletin lists the plan for each sport with regard to the heat. Tonight's golf match is cancelled, the Boys Soccer game at Valmeyer has been rescheduled to Mon, Oct. 12, and the JV Football game pushed back to a 7:00 pm start with the potential of moving it as far back as 8:00 pm. If we cannot kickoff by 8:00, the game will be cancelled.
Congratulations to the Jersey Panthers on their 3-1 victory over Gibault Catholic tonight in the championship of the John Martin Kickoff Tournament in Wood River. Also, a big thanks to all the soccer parents, players, and coaches who helped run the tournament all week. It takes a village to run a week long event like this!
