To help ensure a safe and secure graduation ceremony for all students, families, staff, and guests, East Alton Wood River High School will be utilizing the Evolv Weapons Detection System to screen all guests entering Memorial Gym tomorrow evening for graduation.
The Evolv system is a modern, touchless security screening system designed to quickly detect potential weapons while allowing guests to move efficiently through entry points. Evolv technology is currently used in major venues and organizations across the country, including SSM Health hospitals and Energizer Park, home of St. Louis City SC, along with professional sports venues, schools, hospitals, and entertainment facilities nationwide.
The system is safe for all individuals to pass through, including those with medical conditions, implanted medical devices, or pacemakers.
To help speed up entry and reduce delays:
• Please limit bringing bags or large purses to the ceremony whenever possible
• Guests may be asked to pause briefly for secondary screening if an item triggers the system
• Please plan accordingly and allow extra time for entry screening before the ceremony
Graduation will begin promptly at 7:30 PM.
In addition, EAWR utilizes the Omnilert Gun Detection System on all interior and exterior district security cameras. This AI-assisted safety technology continuously monitors campus camera feeds for visible firearms and immediately alerts law enforcement and administration if a potential threat is detected.
These measures are part of the District’s ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe environment for our students, staff, families, and community during this important celebration.
We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and look forward to celebrating the EAWR Class of 2026 together.
