The Guidance Department invited members from the National Alliance on Mental Illness Southwestern Illinois (NAMI SWI) to present “NAMI Ending the Silence” to students currently enrolled in Health Education.
"NAMI Ending the Silence" is a presentation geared towards educating high school students about mental illness featuring individuals and family members whose lives have been affected by mental illness who provide real-life perspectives based on personal experiences. In addition to the presentation, a variety of resources regarding mental health were provided as well as an information booth during lunch periods.
We would like to thank the members from NAMI SWI for taking the time to present to our students in order to provide a better understanding about the importance of mental health. Visit namiswi.org or nami.org to learn more.

The EAWR Oiler Pride Band and EAWR Cheerleaders performed at the opening ceremony for the grand re-opening of the Walmart Super Store 1071.

**Let’s fill the courtyard with food and hygiene items and this is what happens: For every 5 items you bring in you get a ticket for a chance to win one of our many give-a-ways. If we meet our goal of filling the courtyard, every student in the school will receive a ticket for a chance to win. Simply put your name on the ticket and drop it in the box in front of the prize or prizes you want a chance to win. Items should be taken to the Resource Room, E118. Ticket boxes are also located in E118. If you are a lucky one, you may win more than one item, however, you may not win two of the same items.
**Don't forget to reserve your yearbook! You can order it now for $50 before the price goes up to $60 beginning January 1--just bring $50 (cash or check payable to EAWR) to the Art Room, M-009.
**Attention Seniors--if you are submitting a Senior Photo or a Senior Baby Photo for the yearbook, those pictures are due to Mr. James no later than January 6. Please email any digital photos to him, or deliver hard copies to the Art Room, M-009.
**EAWR has partnered with Toys for Tots. Donation boxes are outside of the attendance center and main office if you would like to donate a toy for a child.

Here is the weekend schedule and yesterday's results.

The Varsity and JV Scholar Bowl Teams competing in a match this afternoon.

National Honor Society seniors visited Hartford, Elementary, Lewis and Clark, Elementary, and Eastwood Elementary today to read Christmas books to K-3 classes.

Five EAWR sophomores went to Edwardsville to learn about the Illinois Labors’ and Contractors’ Joint Apprenticeship & Training Program.
This program is for juniors and seniors to learn general construction, concrete, blueprint reading, bridge construction/demolition and much more. It also gives them a chance to earn college credit. The sophomores got to see 2 of our seniors in action as they demonstrated putting rebar down for highway construction. If you know of any underclassmen that are interested, have them talk to their counselor!

Oiler Bowling vs. Breese Central this afternoon! It’s next to impossible to get a better picture angle than this. Let’s go Oilers!

Today's athletic schedule.

Great job by the EAWR and LCJH band and choir at the winter concert.

Students in Mrs Parmentier's Algebra 1 today did an activity on finding slope of a line. Mrs Parmentier pushed all of the desks and chairs against the wall and students had to stand and walk around the room the whole time. The problems also had QR codes on them so students could check their work when finished.
