Junior Oilers boys basketball open gyms are now on the schedule for Memorial Gym to go along with the girls! This is how we become successful. Working together to bring kids into the gym at a younger age. Let's pack the gym each Sunday with Jr. Oilers!
Year long athletic passes are on sale and the pass will allow the holder to get in all home athletic events for the 2022-2023 school year minus IHSA events. Passes are $30 for adults and $20 for non-EAWR children under 18. EAWR students can purchase a $5 home athletic pass for fall in the Attendance Center. Passes can be purchased at the first home volleyball game at the entrance or the first home football game at the north gate near the East Building.
The EAWR Student Council Room got a new mural on the wall and is ready for the first meeting of the year next week.
The air conditioning is flowing in the gym and Oiler Dan is ready for a Friday night win.

**This year, all students should be parking in the gym or north parking lots. If you need a parking pass please stop by the Main Office to get one. Parking passes are free and you must have one in your car.
**The first Drama Club meeting will be tomorrow at 5pm in the auditorium. This will be an informational meeting for anyone who is already a member or new students looking to join.
**Juniors and Seniors: Would you like to be the next Oiler Dan? If you have a lot of spirit and would like to try out, sign up in the attendance center.
**The East Alton First United Methodist Church located at 1001 Third Street in East Alton (across from Eastwood School) is looking for volunteers to help with outside yard clean up from 9-11 am this Saturday, August 27th. If you are interested in volunteering please sign up in the Attendance Center located in the East Building.
**Picture Day will be on Tuesday, September 6. The flyer given to you by your first hour teacher is incorrectly dated August 26. Lifetouch will be here on September 6 to take photos of all students, faculty, and staff. Seniors, even if you plan to use a senior photo from an outside photographer for the yearbook, get your photo taken by Lifetouch on Picture Day so that you will appear in the Class of 2023 composite photo.
**If you want to join Student Council, applications are due today by the end of the day. Even if you were in Student Council last year, you must complete a new application. Applications were emailed to all students by Mrs. Robinson.
**This Friday is our first home football game and Spirit Club is sponsoring a tailgate party with free hot dogs, chips, and soda/water for all EAWR students and staff in the bus circle from 6:15-6:45. The theme for the game is maroon and gold and Spirit Club would like all EAWR students to sit in the student section located at the north end of the stadium. Also students will line up on the field for pre-game by 6:45 pm.
**Students can purchase a fall athletic pass from the Attendance Center for $5. This pass will allow an EAWR student into all fall home games for $5 (football/volleyball) except for IHSA contests. All fall athletes and band members get into fall events for free.
**If you would like to earn community service hours after school today we will be cleaning the bleachers in the Memorial Gym. Please go to the gym today after school. The activity will begin at 2 pm and be over at 3:30 pm. We will repeat tomorrow if needed.
**There will be a short harvest queen meeting after school on Monday in the college and career center.
**Hey Seniors! Your last first day of school has come and gone, but you have the opportunity to submit an old first day of school picture for the Back to School edition of the school newspaper, The Oiler Times. Please check your email from Ms. Arment for details.
**Spirit Club will have a short meeting after school tomorrow at 2:05 pm in the courtyard to go over information for the pep assembly.

Oilers volleyball kicks off their season tonight at the Roxana Tournament. Oilers play at 6, 7, and 8 pm.
Oiler Dan is ready for the first home football game and win this Friday, kickoff at 7 pm.
The seniors are excited to wear these first responder jerseys this Friday night vs. Harrisburg! The name plate on the back says "Protect and Serve". Let's pack Memorial Stadium to honor first responders and to cheer on our Oilers!

Junior Oilers girls basketball open gym in Memorial Gym this Sunday afternoon. They’ll meet every other Sunday from 2-4 and this is open to 2nd-5th grade girls in the Oiler Nation districts.
On Friday night, the EAWR JFL presented the football program and the athletic department with $500 checks. $500 will go to offset the cost of paint for the field and $500 as a donation to the football team. Good luck to all our JFL teams this fall and thank you for this donation.
